The first comic book all American hero comes to the big screen in Captain America: The first Avenger.
You watch as the kid from Brooklyn grows into the man with the star on his shield. Steve Rogers is played by Chris Evans (Fantastic Four movies ‘Johnny Storm‘) who does a great job bringing the character to life. Along side Chris Evans in the cast was Hayley Atwell who plays Rogers’ love interest Peggy Carter. I think the two worked together perfectly and the connection between their characters was great because of that.
Dominic Cooper plays Howard Stark (Some of you may know of his son Tony Stark) and Stanley Tucci played Dr. Abraham Erskine, the man who saw something in Steve Rogers that not many others did. Tommy Lee Jones was awesome as Colonel Chester Phillips, he sure doesn’t give Rogers an easy time but don’t worry he does laugh and smile once and a while!
Sebastian Stan joined the cast as James Buchanan ‘Bucky’ Barnes, for those of you who read my blog I wrote about Captain America a few weeks ago will know that Bucky was Captain’s sidekick in some of the early comic books.
Not all the cast played good guys, such as Hugo Weaving (Lord of The Rings ‘Elrond’) who plays Johann Schmidt aka Red Skull and his helpful kind of sidekick Dr. Arnim Zola played by Toby Jones (Harry Potter ‘Dobby’) they both did a great job too (Even if they did play the villains of the story).
As great as the cast was, they weren’t the only ones who made the movie amazing. Let’s take this moment to point out a few people on the other side of the camera. Joe Johnston (Rocketeer) did a great job directing the movie and bringing the comic book by Joe Simon and Jack Kirby. Alan Silvestri did an amazing job with the music for the movie.
You need to stay for end of the credits!! STAY FOR THEM!!!
Captain America: The First Avenger gets two thumbs up from this reviewer.
